Chris and Adrienne Scott, Photographers | Nashville Wedding & Portrait Photographers bio picture

well hello there.

Thanks for stopping by, we're glad you came!  We're Nashville portrait and wedding photographers, Chris & Adrienne Scott, a husband and wife photography team.  We live outside of Nashville, Tennessee with our Boston Terrier, Wilson.  Here are a few random facts about us:

- We met while in school at James Madison University, in Virginia
- We tied the knot on December 13, 2008 at Owen Chapel in Brentwood, TN
- We distinctly remember the wedding planning process and don't envy our wedding couples at all
- We were both band geeks in school, Adrienne on oboe and tuba, and Chris on trumpet
- Chris is a terrible dancer, but will make an attempt to bust a move at your reception anyway
- Adrienne talks in her sleep and will sometimes hold entire conversations
- We're both Navy brats although Adrienne spent most of her life in Northern Virginia while Chris has lived in Hawaii, the Philippines, California, Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee
- In our free time we like to take Wilson to the dog park and go to the drive-in movies
- We love to laugh, and do so almost non-stop
- We absolutely love what we do and we take our jobs, but not ourselves, very seriously

Stephen & Deanna Brown, Pt. 2: After Session – Nashville Wedding Photography

A few weeks after their wedding in Nashville, Stephen & Deanna chose to have their after session at Centennial Park, where they had their first date.  We shot a little off the beaten path there, then headed into downtown Nashville to get a little more urban look.  Looking forward to seeing the 30×45 canvas they choose from this, my vote’s on Adrienne’s shot of them under the willow tree (the first willow tree shot in this post)!  Pretty thrilled with how these turned out, take a look!

Not sure that it’s possible to take a bad photo of these two!  Leave some love in the comments, after 10 unique comments on the post, I’ll upload a few more images from their wedding and session to our facebook page!  Ready?  Go!

Also, check back here soon for details on a HUGE sale we’ll be running very soon on DVDs and albums!

Bonnie & Corey Nelson – Cleveland, TN After Session

We met Bonnie and Corey at Jessie and Stefan’s wedding in Murfreesboro back in October, where Bonnie was a bridesmaid.  We’ve been looking forward to photographing them since then because they struck us as a really easygoing, fun couple and we were absolutely right about that!  We had a great time running around the Fillauer Lake House in Cleveland, TN with them and we ended up with some really fantastic images of the two of them (maybe I’m biased…).  It was so hard to keep from posting somewhere around 30 images in this post, but I want Bonnie and Corey to see their images first, then I’ll share them with everyone else!  So, here are two of my favorites, one of mine and one of Adrienne’s.  I chose a couple from the same location because I’m curious if you can tell me who shot which one.  Leave your guesses in the comments.  Corey and Bonnie, no cheating!

I’ll be posting a couple more from Corey and Bonnie’s session on our facebook page, so if you’d like to see those, head on over there!

Stephen & Deanna Brown After-Session – Nashville Wedding Photographers

We’re shooting like crazy lately, so I’m trying to keep you all up to date on what we’ve been up to.  Here are a couple-few shots from Sunday’s after-session with Stephen and Deanna, whose wedding we photographed last month.  Good times were had by all, or at least by me. =)

One of Adrienne’s shots of Deanna workin’ it on this crazy-awesome tree we found.

Here’s a shot Adrienne got of me being a monkey in the previously mentioned crazy-awesome tree.
I’d show you the resulting shot, but it really wasn’t all that cool… I think I just wanted to climb the tree (hey, at least I’m honest, right?)

Off to shoot an engagement session downtown today, then a senior session downtown tomorrow.  I’m pretty sure this is the most we’ve been downtown since Adrienne worked at the Schermerhorn back in the day, it’s been fun (mostly because we haven’t had to pay for parking).

Hope you’re all enjoying this warm fall weather!

Top Five Reasons You Should Consider an After Session

bride_groom_on_cliffI wrote this guest blog post for OneWed’s Savvy Scoop Blog recently and just realized I never featured it on our own site.  So here it is, in all its glory, with a couple of newly updated images from some of our most recent after-sessions!

Here’s a quick list of reasons why, after your big day’s over, there should still be one last thing to check off of your photography to-do list…

1. Location, Location, Location
So, Aunt Mildred’s backyard (while perfect for your intimate gathering of friends and family for your ceremony) didn’t quite cut it for the full-on fashion shoot you had in mind, huh? A day-after session is your perfect chance to go wherever you want to get those photos you’re really dying for. Head out to some open fields, down to the city, to your favorite small town or that special place you and your now-husband shared your first kiss. The options are endless for a day-after session (we’re proof, we traveled from Nashville to the Grand Canyon for our Day-After Session!). Not only that, but a change in location will give your photographers quite a bit more options to find fantastic light for your even more fantastic portraits.

2. Stress Free
The cake showed up on time. So did the groom. All is well. The Day-After Session is your opportunity to let go of all of the stress from your big day and just celebrate being in love with your new spouse. Is “celebrating your love” too cheesy? Then celebrate the fact that you don’t have to plan any more wedding details. There, how’s that?

3. Where Did the Time Go?
This one is pretty self-explanatory; without the stress of the wedding day schedule, you’re free to take your time really exploring different locations and getting even more wall-worthy portraits. Having a winter wedding? Remember, the sun’s going to set much earlier in the winter, leaving little time for those amazing “golden hour” photos if you plan to have your portraits taken after your ceremony. So have the ceremony at the time you’d like, then head out the next day and get those photos you’ll love!BrownAfter

4. Gettin’ Dirty and Feelin’ Trashy
A Day-After Session is your chance to throw caution to the wind and take that dress to places you may not have dreamed of just 24 hours earlier. Run through a field, lay down in an alley or sit down on something that hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned by 3 bridesmaids and your mother. The freedom to take that dress wherever you want to will go a long way to getting those beautiful photos you want. If you’re up for it, tell your photographer you’d like to do a Trash the Dress Session and allow him or her to get really creative with your Day-After photos.

5. Too Little, Too Late?
So maybe you couldn’t afford to hire the photographer of your dreams for your wedding. Take advantage of a lower priced Day-After Session to get images by those photographers you love. Additionally, nothing says your Day-After session actually has to be the day after your wedding. Go get a nice tan on your honeymoon and don the dress again when you get back (no tux for your man? Slacks, a dress shirt and a tie will give your shoot a bit more casual look and he’ll feel like a rock star). In fact, one of our favorite day-after sessions to date was shot 4 years after their wedding!

Keep in mind, all of these benefits go both ways. As photographers, my wife and I absolutely love the freedom that Day-After sessions afford us to simply be creative without any constraints on time, location or anything else that pops up over the course of the wedding day. We’re excited to see that the trend of Day-After Sessions is gaining momentum and hope that this will help some of you in your decision about whether to put that dress on one more time!

Just One More – Nashville Wedding Photography

I’m really terrible about spoiling surprises because I just want to share stuff as I come across it instead of waiting until everything’s ready.  With that said, here’s one more shot from Nathan & Sarah Beth’s after session we did a couple of weeks ago.

BrownAfter_0120

Ok, so for reals though Nathan & Sarah Beth, you’ll have to wait to see the rest!  Can’t wait for you to see the photos and what we have planned for them though!
